Is it better to close a credit card account when you've had a bad payment history with them?

I've had a bad 6 months where most of my cards payments were late, very late. One has gone to debt collectors but two remain open, just in bad shape. Anyways Im paying them off now finally, and was wondering if i should keep them open? This is for the sake of my credit score.

A credit score of 638, will I get the bank teller position?

I just found out the bank I'm attempting to get a job with just did a hard inquiry on my credit report. I haven't been late on my payments for the past year and a half. And I knocked out 90% of my debt in the past 2 and a half years. Do you think they will higher me? I mean resume and job performance wise I've been good for the past 4 years (Mostly retail).

When interviewing for Geico, do they check your credit before or after the interview?

Does anyone know what criteria they use when checking credit, does it depend on your credit score or how much bad debt you have?

Where can i get my credit score truly free?

i would like to check my credit score i don't really care which one or even how many of them, but i need to find a site that will do it for FREE, where i don't have to sign up for some other service, and they don't even ask for a credit card ( because i don't have one) so please please help me find an ACTUALLY free credit check website? thank you so much in advance!

What will my income level and credit score need to be to be approved for a mortgage of $300,000?

I am trying to figure out if I can simply be turned down for a mortgage and"how much"house I will be approved for. What is considered an acceptable income-mortgage payment ratio? And what is the minimum credit score I need to have before I start applying?
