How a Good Credit Score Can Help #6 – Fixing Identity Theft

Identity theft can be a scary thing. You are going along with your daily life, your normal routine and you suddenly find out that someone has stolen your personal information. This can be a worse feeling that if you arrive home to learn that someone robbed your house while you were at work. You may not feel safe after a burglary but what did they take, a television, some jewelry, a few appliances and things that even if they had sentimental value, had nothing to do with who you are. That’s what someone does when they steal your identity, they live their lives as if they are you, using your money. That is very scary to me. Well we can only do so much to prevent it.

The good news about identity theft, if there was any good news, is that there are better ways of protecting ourselves and recovering from it. Many companies now offer services that safe guard your personal information and prevent anyone from stealing it. Should you still become a victim whether you signed up for protection or not, banks still act quickly to return your money without as grueling an investigation as was the case several years ago. A person can have their money returned or credited back to them in a matter of weeks.

If you are a victim there is one thing banks rarely fix, your credit score. You spent your life building a good score that will help you save money on home and car loans, and get approved for all types of loans faster. If your credit has been hit, you can always look into credit repair. Many credit repair companies can fix your score even after you suffer from identity theft, and they can do it in a matter of weeks rather than months or years.
