Trying to Get a Credit Card but Need Help!?

I have no credit history and im wondering if i cosign with my mother who has good credit will i be able to get a credit card? Also how does cosigning work? Will i be able to relieve her from my debts once i establish good credit or will she stay a cosigner till i cancel the card?

Suggestion:

Ask yourself why you want a credit card?
IF you plan to carry balances – (not pay in full each month) stay away and run away fast from them.
Carrying balances on credit cards will devastate your credit.
It will also ruin your mom's credit – since she will be joint in the account.

Want to establish credit.
Make a secured loan at your bank.
Deposit $500 into a cd or a savings account and make a secured loan against it.
Make payments for one year.

I don't like secured cards.
Those new laws will make it impossible for it to turn into a credit card unless you are over 21, have stable employment with sufficient income.
And they carry an annual fee.

Note: Getting a cell phone or utilities in your name will not help your credit.
Some people out there belive this – just making sure you know that.
